Heaven Is Here: April 5 - Our Easter Gift

So..... we were impatiently waiting for little Jens to arrive! My body had never hurt so bad, and I had been feeling pretty sick the days leading up to his arrival! I was very ready to have this baby! We went in for an appointment on April 2nd and I was already dilated to a 3 and 70% effaced. I couldn't believe I was already that far! Clint was going in on his 3 days and 3 nights round and our doctor was going out of town for Easter. So she didn't start me then. . . we sent up a date to induced on the 9th of April. At least I could see an end in sight! : )

Clint was worried that I wouldn't even make it another day with me already being at a 3, but Dr. Dayton said she has had women walk around for weeks, sometimes even a month while they are at a 3. So Clint told me no running, jumping, riding the four wheeler, or dancing no matter how bad I wanted to until that baby was here! We really were hoping to wait until the 9th so that Clint wouldn't be on his nights and Dr. Dayton could be there.

So on Saturday nothing babyish happened, I took McKell to the Easter Egg hunt, we watched conference, went for a walk, just had a fun relaxing day. There was a time during that afternoon that Katherine got me laughing so so hard about something, we were laughing for at least 45 minutes so not sure if that played a part in anything....... That evening we went to Dan and Doreens and colored Easter eggs and had a birthday party for Dan, and I was planning on heading back to their place in the morning for conference and omelets : )

Well that night at about 3:30 in the morning, I felt like I had to pee and I just thought I was being lazy cause there was a little drizzling out... I really had to talk my body into trying to get out of bed... well when I stood up.... here came the water! I walked into the bathroom and squatted up and down a couple times and sure enough..... my water had broke! I went and layed back down for a minuted telling myself it was ok to tell Clint! Finally about 4 o' clock I told Clint that we needed to go : ) so we called Dad to have him come over, and those two wonderful men that I have in my life gave me a blessing of comfort and then we headed out!

The whole way up to the hospital I just kept thinking I couldn't believe this was happening again! So many mixed emotions I had been having the past week leading up to the delivery. This pregnancy I had been having Braxton Hicks ALL THE TIME. Especially the last month. Some of them being so very painful. After my water broke I really didn't start contracting, they were like 7 or 8 minutes apart and not very painful, so I didn't think I would be any more than a 3 when we got there.

Well we got to the hospital and got all settled, and of course it was amniotic fluid, I had already soaked 3 towels and ended up soaking 8 towels by the time it was all said and done. I think that is why I was so much bigger this pregnancy, I had more fluid. The nurse checked me and I was at a 5!!! A 5 PEOPLE! I was so excited! Already halfway there!

They gave me the epidural before the pitocin, (thank you Dr. Crouch! your awesome!) and once they got the pitocin in then things started progressing. I was not in too much pain, but still extreme pressure and very uncomfortable, but was only in labor for 4 hours!! (compared to 11 with McKell) I was able to watch conference and watch Clint sleep. haha

The nurse checked me and said I was ready, had the doctor come in, and we were ready to go! After the first push the doctor said, "I see his head!!" WHAT THE HECK!!! I had to push for 2 1/2 hours with McKell before we saw anything! After 3 1/2 more pushes we had a baby! Dr. Crouch had Jens wave at me right as he was pulling him out... it was so funny! "Hi MOM!" hahaha

I could not believe how fast everything went!!! We are so very blessed!
